(1) create at least a 20 second animation exemplifying "The Rube Goldberg Machine" in terms of a complex machine to solve a simple evnt

(2) Use Maya's Dynamics, Ative and Passive Rigid Bodies, Particle Simulations, your modeling skills, etc. to create the aniamtion

(3) the animation should be software rendered to a quicktime movie, HD sized.

bonus renders may include extra views, side, or different perspective views.

(4) the animation is due at the beginning of the class one week from the assigment day. be prepared to recieve

critique and talk about your intentions and ideas behind your animation.

"The Rube Goldberg Machine" as I imply it, means showing a creative system which is prehaps absurdly complex, in order to solve a typically simple objective or task usually through a chain reaction

-A complex, chain reaction machine that finally blows on hot food in order to cool it

model as much as you want, but remeber, the animation and action matters most!!!

-A machine that uses the long travel of a golf ball, through tunnels, ramps, tubes, and hitting a toy car, which rolls off a table and falls on a ramp, which pops up and knocks the edge of a ruler sitting on a desk, which flips up another golf ball that was balanced on the ruler, which flies and lands onto a scale, the needle of the scale quivers, and a string tied to it pulls a button on an alarm clock, the clock vibrates and falls off another table, the clock fall on a cushion which creates a stream of air, which pushes the flame of a nearby candle onto a cloth hanging off the desk, the cloth catches fire.......the world is destroyed.

BE CREATIVE!!

-START WITH A MINIMAL TASK, like scratching your back, and make a complex machine up to satisfy it.

-OR, START WITH SMALL/INNOCENT chain reactions, and end WITH A DEVESTATINGLY LARGE RESULT!
