ACT1:

BEGINNING: capture attention, introduce problem

ACT2:

MIDDLE: provide tension, Present obstacles

ACT3

END: provide closure, resolve problem

This tree act structure is in evidence all the way from Shakespeare and is commonly used in Hollywood filmmaking.

There are, of course, alternatives to break from this structure, With Pulp Fiction and Memento, or in many independent/auteur films and documentaries some break from three act structure...and some only seem to

...Pulp Fiction and Memento, for example, actually use 3-Act structure, but they cleverly disguise it.

Can you film film example that truly offer an alternative structure?
