Context

The context of a story has a direct effect on the story, so let's begin with learning the definition of context.

In Hollywood, budding screenwriters are often told to follow the "party rule" when writing as scene. "Come late. Leave early." For example, if the relevant information of the scene doesn't happen until after the character walks through a door and has eaten a bag of chips, then don't write the character coming in and having a bag of chips and waiting to the important part of the scene. Start writing the scene after the last chip has been eaten.

The same goes for editing scene. Do not have characters linger in the scene. Get out as quickly as possible after the pertinent information is revealed. This is good advice, especially when writing within the tight confines of a screenplay and especially important when writing information scenes within games, However, the reason this rule works so well has to do with context -which briefly explains what happened before as well and what might happen after. If we are watching a movie and we see a big guy with a big knife hide behind a door -we might naturally assume that the big guy with the big knife has mal intent for the next scene
