In collaboration with artist/performer Asako Otsuka, PARAFEELING, is an video by Jim Ovelmen utilizing painting and techniques of stop-motion photography and animation. The use of wax and melting chemistry, from readily identifiable candles, to entirely abstract-dynamic forms, connect to dissolution, impermanence and relinquishment of control. With flowing and burning wax, scintillation and luminous form give sensations of awe, and a tone of recuperation and healing. The sound for the work was created by a Moog synthesizer, also recorded by Ovelmen |
