DESCRIPTION:
"Futility" as I imply it, means showing a person or thing trying to reach a goal, and failing time after time. We as the audience may be able to see that the mission might be impossible. However, the character of subject in you animation should be determined and confident, for a time of acting, until he/she realizes the task is impossible. Even if the taks is rediculously simple or easy.
You may is you wish, show success at the end in a new or unexpected way.
EXAMPLES?
-A man trying to pick up a marble, but having fingers that are too fat or big, it can't be done. He end ups sniffing it up and blowing it out ina final attemp to rectrive it.
model very SIMPLE props if you need
-A person trying to reach an object on a vrey high shelf, and must stack boxes to get there, but it never quite high enough.
-An extremely short character trying to make a basketball into a hoop. He might use a bizaar method to finally catapolt him into the air for a final slam dunk.
-A person, confronted with a desk filled with stacked papers, that he/she must finish before the end of the day. (can illustrate with a clock). he can emote exasperation and some futile effort The eventual solution might be an erthquake occurs shaking things into an oblivious mess. (can use simple props)
-A character is carrying a special card or a key, that when he walks carlessly with it, it falls down a deep crack in the street or sewer. he then must attempt in futility to fish it out.
-same idea with a sink or a toilet.
Again, you don't have to show costume, or other characters or props. Use a single character and body language to illustrate the whole story. If you use props, keep them simple.
