Cave Paintings

You might not think that we have much in common with people in the Paleolithic Era. We would have unique problems that they would not have and we would scarcely be able to identify with one another. This is probably more wishful thinking than reality. We may share the common struggle for resources, power, and desire as those living 30,000 to 10,000 BC. Perhaps the terms have changed yet the emotions and compulsion may be quite similar. While survival was more difficult, they still had the time to create art and tell the first recorded stories of human kind.

Upon first discovery, cave art was thought to be purely decorative with no narrative or complex meaning. Then as patterns emerged, so did theories: fertility, magic, rituals, symbolism, we'll never know for sure. yet we may conclude that these paintings are communicating events ..a story in pictures*
