Synopsis or Treatment

A synopsis is a summary of a piece of work after it is written.

A summary of the projected work is usually called a treatment.

To be sure, the terms synopsis and treatment (and even premise) are brandished around quite loosely in Hollywood, and they are often interchangeable. For our purposes, we will use the term synopsis as a working document for a projected story.

Where a treatment general refers to a film synopsis, a synopsis can be any kind of media: game, film, tv show, or novel..
